#veganegg #lowfat #baking #oilfree - ☽ ✧ - Δ - ✧ ☾ - It is so easy and healthy to substitute eggs and oil in a cake batter. To replace 2 eggs I use... ... 2 to 3 heaped tablespoons of ground flaxseeds mixed into half a cup of water. Once mixed it is important to let sit and thicken as the ground flaxseed will expand. I also replace oil in the same quantities but in homemade applesauce. I have uploaded some pictures of a Faery pink musk cake showing the process including one of my fails. It all starts with mixing the wet bowl first with flax egg before stirring in the oil substitute, then water or plant based milk. Then dry mix is stirred in. In this example I added rosewater which smells like musk sticks and beetroot juice to color pink. Another little trick I like to use to remove the need for oil or greasing the cake pan is to line the cake pan with non stick baking paper which is available vegan (Ie no beeswax). At the end of this post there's a link to making applesauce the oil replacer as well as diy pink rose icing. From Chapter 'cakes & cups' Here is a cake I made earlier which failed. Why? Because I only put in half the flax in the flax egg that I usually mix up, being absent minded at the time. The flax egg is what keeps the cake together and without it the cake will flatten and or fall apart like this one.
