Preparing Rice Milk for Winters Samhuinn, in 2020... Simple plant based (Vegan) milk made from rice, be it brown or white. I prepare my rice milk from steamed rice, but it is possible to make it from raw. Raw rice milk however can be a bit gritty and watery in comparison. One can further strain the milk with cheesecloth or a nut bag for finer consistency but that isn’t essential. I have added a link at the end of this post to an Australian Nut bag that I bought a couple of years back. I do use this bag quite a bit for straining tinctures and syrups, not just to strain nut/grain milks. As part of a winter preparation series in Winters Samhuinn 2020, I made batches of this Rice Milk to freeze. Simply using empty 2 Litre juice bottles I had kept aside for this very purpose. With six by two litre bottles, I ended up with a 4 week supply of rice milk, stored in the Tucker Box (Deep Box Freezer). From the chapter 'Vegan Milk' Ratio of Rice to Water/What I used;
